It has been a while since we organised a Surrey Wedding Industry Networking Evening, in fact since the launch of Fetcham Park. We have had lots of requests to organise another one, but when is the right time to get the wedding industry together? From April to September wedding suppliers are busy with weddings, and from October through to March it is wedding fair season. We decided on a post Christmas get together, hopefully when everyone has got over the festivities, but not in full swing with the 2014 wedding season.
We have had our eye on Burhill Golf Club as the perfect venue for a while now. Just minutes from the M25 it is a real hidden gem of a venue. Burhill Golf Club is a stunning Georgian mansion dating back to 1726, nestled in leafy parkland on the outskirts of Walton on Thames. It is a truly magnificent wedding venue offering stunning views over the picturesque grounds and the River Mole. The Barnes Wallis Suite can hold civil ceremonies for up to 96 people and 136 guests for a wedding reception up to 150 for an evening reception. A perfect showcase for the Wedding Industry Networking Evening on January 8th.
We were a little nervous leading up to the date as the weather worsened and the rains kept on coming. Walton on Thames, was fast becoming Walton under Thames. Thankfully, although the golf course was closed due to waterlogging the venue remained open! The response was amazing, nearly 100 wedding suppliers registered for the event from all sectors of the wedding industry, and we had a 91% attendance rate! Johnny Zero, a well known crooner and vintage singer , created a fantastic welcome with songs from Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble, Tony Bennett and more which was a great introduction to the marketing master class.
Steve Hooper from UK Wedding SEO didn’t disappoint. You could hear a pin drop when he delivered his talk on marketing your business online. Reminding us that we need to blog, websites need words, and yes, we need to ‘Network’ through social media. You can sign up to his Video Tutorial on EvoTank.com which takes you step by step on exactly how you should be marketing your business online.
